Job Responsibilities

• General supervision and management of the Rec Plex. Inspect the facility and its equipment daily for upkeep and needed repairs. Coordinate to accomplish necessary repairs. Observe daily the buildings activity and take note of volume, intensity, patterns, populations, and choice of equipment by the participants, Correct any faulty play habits and facilitate continued utilization. Observe daily the work habits and procedures of the part-time and full-time employees. Make any necessary corrections and report them to the appropriate professional staff member.
• Coordinate through Facilities Services and the Campus Recreation Director a daily cleaning schedule. Coordinate through the area Custodial Supervisor and Operations Service Supervisor special cleaning services.
• Responsible for the supervision of staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, terming, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc. 
• Inspect all equipment and work closely with other staff regarding the cleaning and repair of equipment and needs related to the purchase/replacement of equipment.
• Plan, schedule, publicize and supervise the drop-in free play recreation activities and programs sponsored by Campus Recreation.
• Assist with student staff responsibilities that include but are not limited to job descriptions, evaluation, supervision, training, etc.
• Coordinate a security program and procedures with the 探花视频 Police Department and Rec Plex staff members to include internal security/surveillance of all areas. Monitor security cameras and coordinate weekly the opening/closing times of back and entrance doors to the Rec Plex.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Service Supervisor and Aquatics Director on all pool maintenance.
• Schedule, hire, train, develop and coordinate the student-staff scheduling of over 100 students in all Campus Recreation facilities.  Conduct weekly student-staff meetings with prepared agendas and handouts, create and implement Staff Training day for all Campus Rec student-staff to best train on policies, procedures and Emergency Action Plan.
• Coordinate the scheduling of areas within the facility for department programs on campus and off campus groups. Maintain an updated master calendar of all activities.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• John has worked at 探花视频 since 1982. John became the Co-Director of Intramurals at the Helfaer Rec Center.
• In 1993, John moved to the Rec Plex to be the General Manager when 探花视频 purchased the YMCA for a second Rec Facility on campus. He has held the position ever since.

PERSONAL

• John is married to Pamela who works for Northwestern Mutual and they have two sons, Bryce and Blake, both of whom have graduated from 探花视频.
• John is originally from Ohio and is a big Buckeye fan but enjoys watching the Packers and Brewers.
• John loves the outdoors and spends time hunting, fishing, coaching, playing sports and gardening. Also has a hobby of working with wood projects such as Board Bag games, planters, etc.
