Immigration issues and policies may evolve rapidly. In 2012, President Obama announced a presidential directive known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, in which he exercised his prosecutorial discretion to delay deportation for DREAMers who were brought to the United States at a young age.

Due to , no new DACA applications are being processed. However, as of January 17, 2025, if you have DACA you can reapply for another two-year permit. The Informed Immigrant website provides a to renewing your DACA.
