Application Processes OPEN: Summer 2026 IWL Interdisciplinary Grant Program
Seeking to foster interdisciplinary research collaborations across the university that further the campus community鈥檚 understanding of gender and sex, the IWL Interdisciplinary Summer Grant Program is now taking applications for its seventh year. Applications due by 4:00 PM (Central) on Friday, February 6th, 2026. For more informaion, visit the IWL Research page.
IWL Research Mini-Grants
IWL accepts applications for research mini-grants of up to $2,500 on a rolling basis. These grants are designed to support research-related activities that advance scholarship or academic knowledge focused on gender or sex. Click for application materials and more information.

Giving Voice to the Unheard: Words from Women Speaking Truth to Stigma
Released on Dec. 4th, 2024, this paper written by IWL's Spring 2024 Faculty Fellows examines the work of Drs. Sabirat Rubya, Daniel Collette, and Alie Kriofske Mainella, and how hearing/amplyifying the voices of those who go unheard help dismantle negative stigmas.
Research and Storytelling as Gendered Resistance
This research paper, written by IWL's Fall 2023 Faculty Fellows, reviews the work of Drs. Heather Hlavka, Jennifer Vanderheyden, and Jessica Zemlak and how storytelling provides essential context to the lived experiences of people鈥"past and present鈥攁s ways to both challenge and amplify the experiences of those who have been doubted, denied, or silenced through time."
